[edit] Policies

Although I don't exactly have the authority to create them, I've written some policies since our administators never got around to it. The Radio Star 01:00, 6 October 2006 (EDT)

It is a good idea to establish policy, one thing holding me back from contributing much here as i notice the owner and the sysop do not pop in overly often which worries me that if this site was to ever go down it may not come back. I primaily contribute to 4400 related artilcles over at Wikipedia, but would very much be interested in becoming a regular contributor here. MatthewFenton 03:23, 6 October 2006 (EDT)
Well, Matthew, once I get some more work done (the job queue is very long), I'm planning on emailing Virgil (if that email works) and telling her to come and take a look at all the stuff that we've done. She uploaded images as recently as August, so maybe she'll return soon. I've seen Mateo recently. --The Radio Star 00:49, 8 October 2006 (EDT)

Yes, it's the offseason and things are slow. You guys are contributing more than I expected during this off time. Vigilyn is easy to contact, I've never had a problem there. Plus he owns a webhosting company, so there aren't worries about the site going down, he's on top of things.

The policies look pretty good. I think maybe we should talk about speculation though; I think there might be some room for that. Lostpedia has allows theories in their wiki, this show is somewhat like that as far as the mystery goes. --Mateo 19:52, 8 October 2006 (EDT)

If you ever go to the official message board, you will see thread after thread of people speculating about the show. Speculation is itself good - it keeps us interested and involved - but I don't want the countless speculation of the message boards to creep into what is supposed to be an encyclopedia. --The Radio Star 16:11, 9 October 2006 (EDT)
How about if we add something like "Speculation is acceptable if a logical flow of information from the series supports it." I'm still cringing at the idea of this site turning into the message boards, with, quite frankly, exceptionally dumb theories floating around everywhere. --The Radio Star 15:59, 8 November 2006 (EST)

[edit] English Spellings

Here's an interesting one - which spellings should be used? The show airs all over the world, it's written in the USA, it's filmed in Canada, and we have editors from all over the world. --The Radio Star 14:09, 8 November 2006 (EST)

I've seen entried on Wikipedia with Canadian spelling of words (colour / color for instance). I'm open to suggestions here. --GeoMike 16:33, 8 November 2006 (EST)
Wikipedia does have it's own policy about this, but that wouldn't be very useful here. I guess we'll just have to have an anything goes policy. --The Radio Star 01:51, 11 November 2006 (EST)

[edit] Actors and Actresses

Should the Pilot, Wake-Up Call, and The New World each count as two episodes for our minor actors and actresses purposes? Gone was actually two episodes, so we probably should count each as a separate episode. --The Radio Star 15:47, 8 November 2006 (EST)

Need suggestions. --The Radio Star 01:51, 11 November 2006 (EST)

I think that Pilot, Wake Up Call and The New World should be classed as just 1 2 hour long episode. Jordan C 15:59, 16 November 2006

[edit] Trivia

We need to know how to address trivia and "Important Developments" in articles. Several articles have trivia bits attached as extra sections at the end. Personally, I think that trivia should be incorporated into the articles' main text if at all possible. --The Radio Star 01:51, 11 November 2006 (EST)

[edit] Commission on what to do about Minor Characters

I'm stumped about what to do with all of the minor character articles. Here are three ideas, and I don't entirely like any of them.

  1. Every character gets their own page
  2. All minor characters are lumped into categorized pages
  3. A mixture of 1 and 2

--The Radio Star 03:42, 16 November 2006 (EST)

I like idea 3 since some chracters can't fit in many catergorys or we can have the kensington family, kendrick family, venner family etc with the minor chracters in familys--Jordan C 15:55, 16 November

[edit] Spoilers

Should we add a no spoilers rule?--The Radio Star 21:22, 7 August 2007 (EDT)

Why do we have the spoiler tag then? I think we need to define how much info is a too much of a spoiler. --GeoMike 21:31, 7 August 2007 (EDT)
If it's from an already aired commercial, TV Guide, or the offical website it is not a spoiler. If it's from some mysterious spoiler website, it is a spoiler. Bascially whatever the makers of the show think we should know at a given time is not a spoiler. --The Radio Star 22:06, 7 August 2007 (EDT)
I agree with you there for sure. --GeoMike 22:22, 7 August 2007 (EDT)
