Unknown. The number was probably choosen as they are the middle four digits of the 144,000 mentioned in the Book of Revelations. See Religous Allusions.

Laura Allen left the show permanantly, and the body of Lily Tyler was cremated, so she will not return. Chad Faust appeared as a guest star at the end of season 3, and has returned for season 4 as recurring.

Season 4 has officially ended and it was confirmed on December 18 that the 4400 had been canceled and would not be returning for a fifth season.
