[edit] Specualation
I am intrigued in the fact that Shawn was abducted accidentally. I do suspect that his ability was originally intended for Kyle Baldwin. But since Shawn is close to his uncle's family, Shawn and Kyle share the same set of values. This means that had Kyle been abducted, Kyle would have been on the same side as Shawn in the coming ideological struggle. Since they both would be on the same side, the future agents did not attempt to reabduct Kyle in the attempt to save the future.
Any thoughts as to why his healing power is considered the greatest ability?

- sounds like something good to add to the page. I suggest putting it in the purpose section, and use * in order that we can seperate the different theories better. --Mateo 22:25, 3 July 2006 (EDT)
In our society, anyone who can help another person beyond giving them a buck or some food is considered to be the greatest or possess the biggest heart. Similar to Mother Theresa and Ghandi. Shawn uses his ability to help others (versus using the life forcing draining power demonstrated in Season 1). It is a matter of perception. He who can heal must be have the greatest power. Personally, I think mindreading would be the greatest power.
Are you sure that Shawn and Kyle share the same set of values (or would have)? While it is considered likely that people raised together within the same or close family unit will be similar, it isn't a statistical fact. You can have two children raised identically with all the same rules and one will be a "productive member of society" and the other will be a "menace to society." --Caroline 09:45, 5 August 2006 (EDT)

[edit] Science of healing
Just for fun, here is a neat scientific explanation for how Shawn's abilities could work: Shawn's ability to drain a life force works on a subcellular level. He blocks the mitochondria from using their energy reserves. But he doesn't deplete them, that's why if he stops touching a person he's draining they are instantly better. However, if Shawn were to drain someone for enough time, enough of their cells would die from "energy-starvation" that the entire body would die.
Shawn's healing ability is really the exact opposite of his life-draining ability. When healing he is infusing a person's cells with a surplus of energy in a extraordinarily controlled manner. As a result their cells can regenerate/divide to a degree and speed that is not usually biologically possible in a human. When it comes to curing people of disease, he infuses the white blood cells as well, enabling them to work more efficiently and themselves be more resistant to damage. Curing cancer involves all of this along with selectively draining the life-force from the cancer cells, causing them to die off while the rest of the body's systems are healed. -- Rylandfan 18:54, 2 September 2006 (EDT)
[edit] Jail
Why isn't he in jail for helping Jordan distribute promicin? --The Radio Star 18:31, 28 June 2007 (EDT)
- That's a good question... it might be he didn't go to jail because he stated that he was against the whole plan, as well as also was knocked into a coma because of Isabelle. It's possible any charges against him were dropped. Or the writers could have totally missed that. --Kaito1412 18:52, 28 June 2007 (EDT)
