[edit] Sickle cell anaemia

Sickle cell anaemia is a hereditary disorder that mostly affects people of African ancestry, but also is very common in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern populations. It occurs when a person inherits two abnormal genes (one from each parent) that cause their red blood cells to change shape. If a person carries only one gene, this means this person has the "trait".

This disorder causes the red blood cells to change shape, from "doughnut" to a "crescent moon". This affects the ability of the red blood cells to circulate through the blood vanes and deprive the body the oxygen it needs. These "crescent moon" shape blood cells, break down after ten to twenty days causing anaemia. A state where the number of red blood cells are bellow normal. People with sickle cell anaemia often feel weak and tired.

People who have the trait, do not have any symptoms but they may pass the gene to their children.

[edit] Isabelle and the Trait

Isabelle has the trait. She has probably inherited it from her father, Richard Tyler. It's the only fact that led to the conclusion that Richard must be her biological father before she was born. Officialy this was never confirmed. There was never a DNA test that proved this.
