"Sarah Rutledge" is the pseudonym used by the agent from the future in Gone. Posing as Maia's sister, she kidnaps Maia and other 4400 children.
[edit] Overview
An agent of the People from the Future posing as "Sarah Rutledge" first appears in the episode Gone, claiming to be Maia's younger sister. Diana is uneasy with Sarah's arrival, and forbids her to have any contact with Maia, until the results of a DNA test are certain. Later, while Maia is at a friend's house, this future agent posing as Sarah visits Maia and persuades her to take a walk. They arrive at a house, where 'Sarah' kidnaps and holds Maia and four other 4400 children captive. With the help of the other children's 4400 abilities, Maia escapes and attempts to free the other children.
'Sarah' confronts Maia, and reveals that she is really from the future. She claims that "The 4400" experiment did not work as intended, and that Maia, as the savior of humanity, needs to be sent back to an earlier time. Her kidnapping of the children resulted in their being removed from the present timeline, with no trace of them left.
When Tom attempts to kill himself to get the future's attention, Sarah brings him to the Future Room, where they debate the taking of the children. Eventually, Sarah agrees to return the children, but warns that this may require a greater sacrifice on Tom's part.
So far, apart from her unnamed assistant, this agent posing as 'Sarah' is the only agent of the future faction to be seen (if the illusory figure taking the form of Alana seen in Life Interrupted is not counted). The real Sarah Rutledge would have been born in 1951.
