René Echevarria is a television writer and producer. He received a degree in History from Duke University in 1984. After graduating, he pursued a career in the theater. In 1985, he joined the Circle Repertory Lab Company and was an assitant director in Victor Muniz' play "Darts", and he acted in Gorky's "Lower Depths". He later acted in Kristin McCloy's play "Isosceles" and the La Mama Theater adaptation of Aeschuylus' "Oresteia". During the year 1989, René moved his sights towards television. He has written for Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as well as the TV series Now and Again, Dark Angel and Medium, and is co-creator and writer of The 4400.
