Patty Ryland was a government official (particularly the parties held in Washington D.C.) and the wife of Dennis Ryland, a highly distinguished member Homeland Security, and has a daughter by him named Nancy. Patty loved Dennis very much, and was a friend to Ryland's old friend and colleague; Tom Baldwin, but when the promicin-inhibitor scandal was exposed and Ryland put on trial, Patty suffered immense stress that required Tom's support, and, disgusted that Ryland had caused the deaths of 28 4400's due to his paranoia, Patty divorced him.
