Maia was the first person abducted by the People from the Future as part of their plan to avoid the extinction of mankind.

[edit] Season 1

Maia returned to the present with the rest of the returnees, now known as the 4400, though she was now alone in the world as her family and friends were long dead and gone. She remained in quarantine at NTAC, where she became the first 4400 to develop an ability; precognition, which strengthened and matured her childish nature, allowing herself to quickly adapt to her new reality. A foster family adopted Maia upon the 4400's release from quarantine, but she is ultimately returned when they have a hard time handling Maia's ability.

Maia, whose power was now revealed to the government, remained at NTAC, where she was subjected to brutal tests and examinations into the governments research and wish to duplicate her power. After bearing witness to her mistreatment at the facility, Diana Skouris decides to take her home, where the two bond, and helps Diana create a safe, stable home for eachother.

[edit] Season 2

One year later, Maia is formally adopted by Diana, and is given the surname of Skouris, and claims her visions into the future have stopped, though they secretly continue but she now keeps her large number of visions written in her diary. Eventually her visions are revealed to NTAC when she predicts Jordan Collier's assasination by Kyle Baldwin. Diana is increasingly protective of her, as people out in the world are afraid of 4400's because humanity is afraid of what it doesn't understand, though Maia accepts this. Maia has also bonded with April Skouris, her adoptive aunt, though they had an initial falling out when April used her ability to win money in gambling, though she forgave her.

[edit] Season 3

Diana lifts certain restrictions as time went on, and Maia soon attended school at the 4400 Center, and formed frienships with students such as Amy Paspalis and Tyler Downing. Later, Maia, Tyler, Lindsey Hammond, Olivia and Duncan Germaine were targeted by agents of the future, who sought to alter the timeline furthur to avert the Catastrophe. Despite their efforts, the children, including Maia, were sent back in time to live out their lives, but were returned when Diana's partner and friend, Tom Baldwin. Maia later left the center after Isabelle Tyler's rampage.

[edit] Season 4

When promicin was distributed to the world, Diana sought to protect Maia by bringing her to Spain with her boyfriend (and according to Maia; her future fiancee) Ben. This ended when April went missing after taking promicin, forcing Diana to return, and Ben and Maia later followed. Maia currently lives in Seattle, normally sharing her visions with NTAC as they need guidance in the new chaotic world, and is displaying increasing independance and teenage rebellion from Diana's rules, and increasing support for Collier's efforts to save the world, though remained connected to her mother. Ultimately, she decided that Collier was a force for good when he had one of his followers cleanse one of the most polluted waterways in America, and left home to the newly-created Promise City and alerted Collier to an attack by enhanced soldiers led by Captain Aquino.

Though she returned to her home, Collier thanked Maia for helping his cause and gave her access to Promise City to whenever she wants, even to be allowed to stay there.

Maia was instrumental for setting a trap for Baldwin, who by this time was under The Marked's control, though her life was briefly in danger when Baldwin gave her a massive dose of the promicin-inhibitor to stop her from interfering with the Marked's plan to captured and "Mark" Collier. Thankfully this failed, and Baldwin was freed.

Maia saw the transition of power in Seattle from the government to the Promicin Movement afer the chaos caused by Danny Farrell's ability, and on watching Collier's speech upon seizing all of Seattle, told her mother that Collier was a good guy and "we're in charge now, it's better this way", revealing to Diana (and the viewers) that Maia is indeed one of Collier's many followers.

[edit] Purpose

It was revealed by an agent of the future, posing as Maia's younger sister Sarah, that she is the "Savior of Humanity", though this is not furthur elaborated. Maia will presumably play a crucial role in Jordan Collier's plan to save the world by distributing promicin to the population.

[edit] Alternate Timeline

In the alternate timeline created when Maia and the other children were sent back in time, Maia was sent back the furthest, ending up in 1817, where she became part of the Oregon Trail. Unfortunately, she cought smallpox and died at the age of 25 before they reached their destination.
