[edit] History

Only major parts of Diana's history have been revealed so far. Diana was born and raised in Seattle, and lives in an apartment complex alone, her mother having since died, her father gone senile due to Alzheimer's and doesn't recognise her, and is estranged from her sister; April, whose self-destructive behaviour has caused a great deal of hostility between the two.

Diana decided to focus on her career, graduating from university with graduate degrees in Microbiology and Epidemiology, and then became an agent at the CDC for 5 years before enlisting into Homeland Security and being assigned to the Seattle Branch under the command of Regional Director Dennis Ryland.

[edit] Encounters with the 4400

At 4:00 in the morning, Diana got an emergency call while watching the approaching comet heading for Earth and, upon arriving, found Ops in a scene of chaos and was horrified to discover that the comet was heading straight to Earth, something, she pointed out, proved it wasn't a comet. Diana then tracked the comet to Highland Beach at the base of the nearby-Mount Rainier, and was among the Homeland Security agents on the scene. When the comet stopped above the beach, hovered and imploded, Diana was knocked to the ground and got up and began staring at the place the comet had been, and first noticed mysterious and confused looking people from different time-frames walking around and out through the mist...the 4400 had come.

When the National Threat Assessment Command, an independant division of Homeland Security under Ryland's command that formed to investigate the 4400, Diana was among the first conscripted agents and was partnered with Tom Baldwin, who she was wary of becausehe had abandoned his position by taking an "indefinate leave of absense". Diana was also wary of the 4400, and especially where they had been, and insisted they had to be isolated when Ryland lobbied for their release from quarantine. In the end, Diana was overruled and the 4400 were released. Diana then worked side-by-side with Tom to investigate various members of the 4400 that were linked to unusual accidents, deaths, or miracles that were made possible by their supernatural abilities, with Diana frequently providing a scientific insight while Tom provided spiritual clarity, making them a perfect team and Diana even grew to respect and depend on Tom...even consider him a friend.

When Tom was suspended from field service because of his actions against Warren Lytell, Diana remained on field duty, but never could get used to a partner like she had with Tom, and went through five partners, the latest being Agent Hubbard. Unable to cope with Tom's situation, Diana lobbied for Tom's reinstatement with the cold-hearted Regional Director Nina Jarvis, who had replaced the nealy-promoted Ryland, and ultimately succeeded.

Diana and Tom, partners once again, continued their investigations, meanwhile Diana was successful in adopting 4400 Maia Rutledge, whom she grew to love dearly, and also briefly reconciled with her sister. Diana was also instrumental in solving the promicin-inhibitor crisis, with assistance from Kevin Burkhoff, the "Father of the 4400 Technology" and a fellow scientist, which led to Diana respecting him. This respect led to Diana helping Kevin experiment with promicin. Diana later discovered Kevin, teaming up with Tess Doerner, was secretly injecting her with promicin, that nearly caused permanent damage had NTAC Agents led by Tom saved her.

When the recently-resurrected Jordan Collier stole Haspelcorp's stockpile of promicin and distributed it to the world, Diana, already under immense personal and professional pressure, fled from her post to San Sebastien, Spain with her daughter and new lover; Ben Saunders. Eventually, she returned to find April, taking her old job back with help from new Regional Director Meghan Doyle to help in her invesitgations, and after finding April decided to remain at her job, as she believed that is where she can do the most good. Lately, Diana is showing increasing support for Collier's radical followers and their efforts to change the world, especially after Maia joined the movement after an attack on the newly-erected Promise City by the enhanced soldiers.

Diana, like Tom, is determined to stick with her work with NTAC and the 4400 "till the end". It had looked possible she may develop an ability due to the large amount of promicin she absorbed, however in the season four finale, it was revealed that Diana is resistant, if not immune to promicin thanks to Kevin Burkhoff's experiments. Because of this incident, Burkhoff has managed to find a vaccine in a simple, over-the-counter dietary supplement.

[edit] Relationships

Diana's scientific and fatalistic nature have often impeded her chances for love, but also presented itself in several opportunities, one which Diana accepted in the form of Josh Sandler, a handsome teaching-assistant whom Diana was engaged to after three years of dating. This, however, didn't last, as two weeks before the wedding, Diana found out Josh was cheating on her and, coupled with his violent and self-

Diana temporarily dated [[Marco Pacella], an NTAC colleague who led the Theory Room department, but later realised that nothing would ever come of it, and left him.

When Diana met Ben Saunders, April's new boyfriend, Maia told Diana that she and Ben would eventually marry. Diana told Ben of this, and both agreed to stay away from eachother for April's sake. Ben returned however, as he believed that a precog child had told him he was with the wrong person, and Diana, admitting she was attracted to Ben, had a sexual affair with him behind April's back, before coming out with it when Maia told April what she had seen (April accepted the vision, but became near-suicidal). Eventually Diana went with Ben to San Sebastian, Spain with Maia to take a break from work and spend as much peaceful time with her daughter in the new world created by promicin's release to the world, but eventually returned to find the missing-April and stayed with Maia in the place she can do the most good, while Ben returned to Spain, though Diana still remains in contact with him.

[edit] "Ability"

In Jordan Collier's dream shown at the beginning of The Wrath of Graham Diana is shown as having the ability to stop time by snapping her fingers. This may be an indication of an ability she might receive.
