Curtis Peck was a 4400 who, after finishing his education at 10th grade, began production of cheap horror films at home to get by financially. Curtis discovered that he had a great talent for story writing, and soon he developed a cult following around his films. Curtis always wanted to become a professional film maker in Hollywood, but most producers put him down as a cheap amateur, and Curtis ended up getting his funding from Stewart Hanley, a retired lawyer interested in his stories.

After his return, Curtis returned to film making, but this time had the ability of claircognizance, which showed the truth on things. Whenever he concentrated on a major conspiracy, Curtis instantly knew the truth, and thus made films based on conspiracies and unsolved mysteries, making him slightly more popular (such as with NTAC's Theory Room). Initially his greatest revelation was of the true assassin of President John F. Kennedy, but was shattered to discover the existence of The Marked, a group of agents from the future sent to destroy the 4400. Curtis used his ability to reveal the names of several of the 10 agents; Drew Imroth, Cardinal Caralble and Wesley Burke. Curtis documented this in a screenplay and planned to make a film out of it.

The Marked realized what he learned, and thus murdered Hanley and began hunting Curtis down, and eventually his absence from government-mandated checkups warranted Regional Director Meghan Doyle to send Tom Baldwin and Diana Skouris to find him. Eventually, Curtis was found, and the agents believed his story about the Marked, and while they tried to convince their superiors, Marco aided Curtis in finishing the scene in which all the Marked are together, so they could be identified and arrested. It was at this time that Tom, while in hospital for suspected mental instability about his "wild theories" on the Marked, was implanted with one of the entities, and Curtis was finally captured. Curtis, knowing he would never be safe, burned his screenplay and vowed to disavow all the truth he uncovered to make the Marked cease their pursuit. Later that day, a big-time film producer from Hollywood, who "also happened to be" a big fan of Curtis's work, contracting him to direct his own film in Hollywood (this was a payoff from Imroth as a way to keep him quiet).

In Hollywood, Curtis was on the eve of finishing his movie, and was in his trailer finishing his screenplay, when Skouris and Doyle barged in, and demanded he reveal how they could kill a Marked entity. The women forced Curtis to admit he was silenced, and then reveal a crucial fact about the Marked-creation process (which he learned from "seeing" Matthew Ross's marking procedure); a person is put under the control of an entity that is somehow encoded onto "tiny machines", which eventually spread and allow the entity to dominate its host.

Marco interpreted this as nanites, and since nanites have breakable molecular bonds, a radioactive substance, such as 50 nanograms of polonium, could destroy them, kill the entity and free its host (though at the cost of the host's life).

Later that evening, Curtis was trapped in his trailer by Baldwin, who revealed to a shocked Curtis he was now Marked. Curtis repeatedly insisted he didn't say anything, and "Tom" seemingly took him at his word. However, Tom subtlely manipulated Curtis into revealing that his visitors had wanted to know how to destroy the nanites, and, upon realizing the agent's plans, took out a spare gun and shot Curtis in the forehead, killing him instantly in cold blood.

The Vancouver Police Department later found Curtis murdered in his trailer, and alerted Doyle, believing he was the victim of a robbery. The agents knew better, however, and used Curtis's death as motivation to bring down "Tom" and free him of the entity's control.
