[edit] Detailed Synopsis

Tom, Kyle and Alana have dinner as Kyle reiterates what he's been told about his dad's time in Alana's "dream world" that lasted 8 years. Tome tells Kyle in the dream Kyle went to Stanford University and graduated with honors and became a neurologist.

Diana tells Marco that she has 24 hours to turn over Maia's Diary which has been subpeoned.

A 4400 looks scared standing in a downtown filled with dead people.

Matthew Ross arrives at the 4400 Center and asks to be taken to Mr. Farrell. Shawn is overwhelmed at Jordan's desk with the mail and media requests. Shawn is glad to meet Matthew, but Jordan never told Shawn that Matthew would be coming if Jordan was killed.

April asks Maia for advice in buying a scratch-off lottery ticket. After winning, April smiles and tells Maia that she is her new lucky charm.

Nina pulls Tom & Diana off of the Collier murder case to investigate a virus in Granite Pass, Oregon (population 273). Jarvis tells them there is only one resident that FEMA has unaccounted, 4400 Jean DeLynn Baker. They think she's either immune to the virus or she's the carrier.

A truck driver gives Jean a ride, asks where she is going. She says "Seattle - the 4400 Center".

Tom & Diana arrive in Granite Pass in bio hazard suits to invesitage the dead. They think that everyone in a radius died suddenly but if you drove through town a hour later you were fine.

Matthew asks Lily to be "Assistant Director of Human Resources". She doesn't think she's qualified. Matthew says she's smart and being a 4400 is good enough.

Tom & Diana arrive at Jean and her paretn's house where Marco and others are investigating. The parents were upstairs sleeping when the virus hit. Elsewhere, Jean calls the 4400 Center where she talks with a receptionist. She tells her "she didn't mean to do it, she didn't mean to kill them." The receptionist tells Matthew the information and that she is staying at a motel on the "Squirrel Hill exit on the 65". Matthew asks another employee to "get NTAC on the phone."

April won $200 betting on a Philadelphia game that Maia predicted the outcome. April asks Maia about a Chicago vs. New York game. Maia asks April if she loves her. April says she does even without Maia's power. Meanwhile, Tom & Diana respond to the call from Matthew. They are driving to the motel where Jean is. They come across the dead truck driver. Up the road, Jean is reading the bible in her hotel room when a tear gas grenade is thrown through a window and goes off. Jean tries to exit the hotel room but is met by 2 men in bio hazard suits. She said she's scared, then the men fall and die. She enters the parking lot where 2 more in hazard suits fall and die. She enters the agent's car and reveals the palms of her hands which are covered with open sores.

Tom & Diana deduce that the trucker was killed by a virus from Jean. Tom answers his cell phone thinking it was from Agents Mortimore & Falcone but it is Jean on the other end. She tells Tom that nobody is save, not even in hazard suits and to stay away. She says "I don't need you, I'll take care ofit myself". Tom asks what she means. She says "she is going to end it before she kills anyone else." Diana calls Jarvis to put a trace on the car Jean is in. She's on the 99 with 3 helicopters nearby. They have orders to incinerate her if she doesn't pull over.

Shawn tells Matthew that he's taking a vacation. Matthew mentions 4400s as replacements for him: Mary O'Connell disappeared in 1972 is an empath, Robert Fields disappeared in 1987 is great with numbers and pattern recognition, and possibly John Gerston.

Marco tells Tom that Mortimore & Falcone werw wearing state-of-the-art biohazard gear strong enough to withstand an anthrax attack. Tom reiterates that they are dead. Marco says that the virus must be working on a subatomic level, Diana agrees. Tom asks if the virus could be caused by her emotional state. Marco says that is possible "her medicine cabinet screams borderline personality disorder". Marco says she takes cortizone cream for stress rashes, xanax and prozac. He says when she becomes confused or upset the killur virus becomes airborne. Tom asks Marco for advice. Marcy says "don't piss her off."

Lily tells Shawn she knows about all of the letters of sick people asking for healing, saying "its almost to much to take". She says it gave her an idea, but since Shawn is leaving she'll tell him when he gets back. Shawn asks to hear Lily's idea. Lily mentions starting up a foundation that would read through the letters and find the most those that are most in need. Shawn says it would mean saying "no" to thousands of people. Lily says it would be saying "yes to 1, everyday". Shawn hesitates but likes the idea and wants Lily on the decision-making committee.

Tom & Diana arrive to see the agent's car that Jean was in burning on the side of the road. Jean calls Tom from a pay phone and says "she couldn't do it" (suicide). She says "the time is at hand" quoting Revelations from the Bible. She thinks she is supposed to "purify humanity". Tom calls Marco to ask what she had planned for that day. Marco says she was going to file an unemployment claim in downtown Portland.

April is upset because Chicago didn't win like Maia had said to her. She bet her mother's engagement ring. Maia said April lied to her, that she just wanted to use her. April says this must have been a test.

Jean arrives outside of the "Portland Unemployment Division" building. Tom & Diana find her standing outside. Tom says "You have a choice." She says she didn't have a choice when she was abducted. Tom tries to talk her out of it. Jean shows her palms, the spores are growing but haven't opened. Diana shoots Jean, paramedics quickly spray foam on her palms.

Marco tries to comfort Diana at the office, then reveals he made a fake of Maia's Diary for her to turn in. She says "its one of the nicest things anyone has done for her".

Matthew thanks Lily for a "job well done". She says "his idea for a foundation was terrific."

Tom comes home late from work and finds a well-prepared meal by Kyle (with Alana's help). Tom asks Alana how her day was and she tells him about her day in the art gallery. At NTAC, Diana hands to Jarvis the fake of Maia's Diary, passing it off as real (with good reads of Spongebob). And at the Baldwin's house, Kyle sees flashbacks of his memory losses and realizes he is Collier's assassin. At NTAC, the janitor that saw Kyle describes to a sketch artist the facial features of the assassin. The sketch is distributed to all agents and resembles Kyle.
