Brandon Powell is the son of Ryan and Jess Powell, but suffered advanced autism that made him anti-social, unable to speak, and obsess with trains. While Jess found ways to cope with Brandon's condition, Ryan was tormented with the idea that his only son wouldn't even look at him, let alone do things other sons did with their fathers that he regularly saw everyday. Ryan eventually slipped Brandon a shot of promicin, in the hopes it would make him normal or at the very least communicative.

Not only did this fail, but things got considerably worse when Brandon's ability manifested; to make others see their worst fears so much, they had insanity-caused phobia attacks. Brandon unintentionally affected dozens of people, driving them all insane.

NTAC Agents Tom Baldwin, Diana Skouris and Jed Garrity (who later had a phobia attack as well) investigated and later realized what Ryan had done. With his help, they brought Brandon in safely and Shawn Farrell cured Brandon of his autism, making him normal, and he spent the next few minutes having a talk with Ryan before he was arrested for using promicin.

NTAC, instead of arresting Brandon for being a Promicin Positive, arranged a deal with his mother; that Brandon would be allowed to be free, if Brandon would regularly come into NTAC for regular doses of Concentrated Promicin-Inhibitor to supress his power.
